Do you watch trash TV shows because they're funny? Or because they are so addictive? Many students and teachers around Encinal are watching some of these goofy shows, a lot of them being Netflix Originals. So here’s our list of the top ten trash TV shows!

  1. Too hot to handle

  2. Love is blind

  3. You

  4. Riverdale

  5. Kissing Booth

  6. Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh

  7. The Bratz movies

  8. Glee

  9. Shameless

  10. The Spongebob Movie

Riverdale started out pretty good in my opinion, but then it started to just go off the rails. It seemed as if they wanted to use almost all of the popular tropes, but since they were cramming together so many ideas, it kind of just ruined the show. I would continue to watch it because I still found it entertaining just watching the drama unfold and being right about the “mystery” it had. That along with it giving me plot ideas and an opportunity to critique the way they would write the show.

For me Kissing Booth is more comedy than romance, only due to my view of romance versus how they seemed to portray it. The storyline was entertaining in a comedic aspect and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to understand what is going on.

The popular TV show You is at the top of my list as most cringeworthy. It starts as a romance in New York and turns into a psycho-stalker twist. The bad acting, the cheesy narration, the over-effort. Don't get me started about the millennial jokes and poems. It seemed like the writers ran out of ideas after a while because every season got repetitive and very predictable. Still, it’s funny to watch and make fun of. I've heard there’s going to be a fourth season, and of course I’ll be watching it. I can smell the cringe from a mile away.

Love Is Blind is another one of my favorite cringe-fest TV shows. The idea of the show is that 50 contestants, girls and guys meet with each other between a wall, so they can't judge them by looks. They talk to multiple people to see who they connect with, and people who don't connect get removed slowly from the show. Of course, all of these love shows end up with the couple getting married. Terrible idea, right? Staged or not, I think it's pretty funny. The ironic thing is, the matches will ask each other what race they are and judge them based on their voice. I enjoy the dry humor and how much people don’t connect.

Too hot to handle is the worst match-up dating show I’ve ever seen. Basically, the concept is the same as any other dating show, but with the fakest, meanest people ever. They gather on an island and the catch is that they can’t have sex with anyone or the prize money of $100,000 gets slowly deducted. I don't know how the producer found all of these people, but they judge each other based on their bodies and brag about how many people they have slept with. Some even literally say that they came on the show just to have sex, and not participate seriously in the game. Not surprisingly, everyone breaks the rules. Staged or not, the drama is insane and several people get into fights.

While these shows are corny, and sometimes so cringy to watch, they're still fun to watch and laugh at.
