The Jets won two road games last week, including a thrilling 6-5 win against Salesian (11-4) on April 8. Encinal (7-3) also defeated San Lorenzo, 21-3.
I feel really good about the win," Freshman Chey Caina said. "I'm glad we sealed it. "The goal is to do better next time and make that win a done deal."
The Jets went into the final inning leading 6-2, but the Pride roared back, scoring three runs to make it 6-5. Senior Stella Cashin came to the mound to close the game, recording a strikeout for the final out.
"I wasn’t nervous because I was confident that we’d finish the game with a win," said Cashin. "They started to come back slowly, but it didn’t worry me. It was super relieving...I felt like I finished it myself."

Baseball ⚾️
Encinal (6-9) ran through Mt. Eden (3-5) last week, winning 10-0 and 7-0. The Jets have won four league games in a row.
Senior Alex De La O, who pitched a perfect game against Tennyson earlier in the season, had 9 strikeouts against Mt. Eden.
"I'd say the team feels good. We had a rough start to our season, playing some really good competition and I think that this was a good break to escape that feeling of hopelessness," said Senior David Costa. "I said at the beginning of the season we can be great but we have a lot to work on right now and we have to get better everyday."

Men's Volleyball 🏐
Encinal went 1-3 at its first tournament of the season on April 9. The Jets lost 2-0 to Serra, Clovis West, and Lowell, but defeated American Canyon 2-0.
"I've never done a tourney with the Encinal team before so it was pretty exciting," said Junior Noah Yiu. "I think we all had fun even though we had mostly losses. Some of our best plays were against Clovis as well."
Clovis West is ranked #9 in the nation.

Badminton 🏸
The Jets went 0-2 last week and have lost 5 in a row. Encinal lost 14-1 to Castro Valley and 8-7 to San Lorenzo.

Track & Field 🏃
Encinal girls defeated Piedmont on April 6, brining their team record to a perfect 6-0. However, boys track lost its first duel meet of the season to Piedmont. They are now 5-1. Senior Quinton Rainey shaved 5 seconds of his leg of the 4x4 for a personal record of 49 seconds.
"I felt great because I knew that I was getting better and faster every day," said Rainey.
The 4x4 team is trying to beat the school record of 3:23. Their fastest time this season is 3:37.
